Large Animal Chiropractic
There are many indications for equine chiropractic, however serious and immediate medical issues need to be ruled out or treated by conventional veterinary medicine before any chiropractic evaluation can be done. Chiropractic care may contribute to the rehabilitation of most cases after surgery or severe medical conditions by helping restore normal muscle and skeletal function.

The main indications for equine chiropractic evaluation are back or neck pain, localized or regional joint stiffness, poor performance and an altered gait that is not associated with obvious lameness.

Show horses have to control every part of their body to perform their best. When one area is painful or not moving correctly, the whole body is affected. Neck and back subluxations commonly occur, and adjustments can improve their suppleness.
Breeding can be strenuous on broodmares and stallions, causing lumbar and pelvic subluxations.
The most common subluxations found in young foals involve the atlas and sacral iliac joints; New foals can be adjusted as soon as they can stand up and nurse.

Saddle fit and harness issues can cause an assortment of uncomfortable issues for your horse from their jaw to their pelvis.
Many pastern and fetlock issues start as problems with circulation in the lower extremities. Chiropractic adjustments can help improve blood flow and reduce the risk of developing such problems.
Any animal, at any age, can have musculoskeletal issues. The birthing process can be quite traumatic and young animals show early signs of discomfort via poor temperment, unilateral nursing, or more obvious movement problems.
